Living with intensity - update

Well, I should have added "Elect a black president" to my list of yesterday. Congratulations USA. And a massive vote too. Which just goes to show that when people, and particularly voters, begin to believe in change, anything can happen. Where were all these voters last time round?  Not registered, presumably. They couldn't see that it made any difference whether they voted or not. And suddenly we find a whole new population of Democratic-leaning adults finally expressing their wishes when they are represented by someone with whom they can identify.

You get the feeling that from now on,the grey-haired middle-aged white guy really is just one contender among many.  And there's the possibility that Obama could set things up for Hilary Clinton in four or eight years' time. I'm no Clinton fan, but the mold has been broken today.

Once again, the USA has rediscovered the capacity to surprise the world, and in a good way this time.

I read recently that venture capitalists, especially in the USA, are now turning to green technologies as potentially the sector with the best yields for the next generation, better than the internet or oil or any of the other previous favourites. So, the world's biggest polluter is set to become the biggest contributor to solving the pollution problem.  And now perhaps the world's greatest imperial troublemaker of recent years can settle back into a role of leadership rather than bullying and aggression.

God bless America!
